SSAA SHOT Expo 2012 - Visitor Survey

The 2012 SSAA SHOT Expo was our most successful event ever - with 10,689 people attending the three day event.

Along with the largest number of visitors ever we also had the highest number of exhibitors ever, the highest number of booths ever and the largest amount of floorspace ever.

It was a great event, but we know we can still improve ...

That's why we have created a short 2 minute survey to ask people who attended SSAA SHOT Expo 2012 to give their feedback.

So if you attended SSAA SHOT Expo in 2012 and want to pass on your comments so that we can set the bar even higher again in 2014, please click the link below and let us know what we did well, and what we can do better in two years time.

And thanks again for your support of the safe, fun and unique range of shooting sports and outdoor lifestyle activities that were on show at SSAA SHOT Expo 2012.

SSAA NSW congratulates New South Wales Rifle Association

SSAA NSW warmly congratulates the New South Wales Rifle Association on their victory against the Commonwealth Government in their fight for ANZAC Rifle Range at Malabar.

However it is important to stress that the NSWRA had a very different licence with the Federal Government to the one held by SSAA NSW.

SSAA NSW explored all avenues in a bid to remain on the Range, and are still actively working with the Federal Government for a solution to the lack of Range facilities for our members in the Sydney basin.

Today's judgement can only assist SSAA NSW in their negotiations.

SSAA NSW in Maitland to promote shooting sports

SSAA NSW was recently invited to participate in a discussion about firearms legislation in NSW and happily accepted the opportunity to travel to Maitland and promote the safe, fun and unique range of shooting events and the law abiding people who participate in this Olympic sport.

The venue was the Grand Junction Hotel and was part of a regular event called Politics in the Pub where different topics are discussed. Approximately 30 people attended to listen to the discussion.

The topic for the night was. 'Guns in the Community - Do we need them'. SSAA NSW Executive Director Diana Melham spoke about our sport and the thousands of licensed, law abiding, firearm owners who take part. After both speakers gave an opening speech questions were invited from the audience.

Local events such as these are an important opportunity for SSAA NSW to get out and spread the message about our sport.

SSAA SHOT Expo 2012 is best ever

Held at Sydney Olympic Park on June 15-17 the SSAA SHOT Expo 2012 smashed the previous attendance record with over 10,500 visitors attending.

With exhibitors from around the World including Japan, New Zealand, South Africa as well as countries as far away as Namibia and the Czech Republic SSAA SHOT Expo was like Disney Land for those interested in shooting, hunting and other outdoor activities.

Exhibitors displayed products ranging from the latest in firearms and knives to camping equipment, safari holidays, barbeques, clothing, accessories and even dune buggies !!

Visitors were kept entertained by our Try Air Rifle, Air Pistol and Archery ranges which were closely monitored by our Range Safety Officers.

For those who were interested Game Council NSW ran several butchering and caping demonstrations across the weekend while on the main stage exhibitors such as Beretta, Winchester, Frontier Arms, Moroka.30, AusArms and Lightforce showed off their latest ranges.

One of the best stories to come out of the weekend was that of Achilles Archery, who were at their first ever SSAA SHOT Expo as exhibitors.

Achilles Archery were visited by a major production company who enquired about purchasing some of their products in an upcoming Hollywood blockbuster.

Such an event would not have been possible without our Major Sponsors – Beretta Australia, Winchester Australia, Game Council NSW and Swarovski Optic.

The SSAA SHOT Expo will now head to Melbourne for 2013 before once again returning to the Harbour City in 2014.
