All ranges are equipped for safe competition, training, load development, ‘sighting in’, and recreational shooting, supported by modern infrastructure including:

    FAQ

    Will there be changes to the days of operation?

    SSAA NSW proposes to open SHRSC four days a week with a structured schedule that ensures safety and efficiency. Initially opening times will be:
    Friday: 10:00am – 5:00pm (500m Range only)
    Saturdays and Sundays: 10:00am – 5:00pm (all ranges)
    Bookings for the fourth day will be made directly with SSAA NSW

    Will all ranges remain in operation?

    Yes, all three ranges will remain open (50m, 500m and 800m).

    Will casual shooters have access to 800m and 500m ranges

    This is decision for the new venue management.
    Initially, current operational arrangements will remain in place.

    Are range fees going to rise and if so, by how much?

    SSAA NSW will provide an updated price list to clubs and stakeholders after they take over management and operation of the complex.

    Will there be different range fees for SSAA members vs non-members of the new range operator?

    No, however SSAA NSW propose to implement a new operating model from 1 January 2026.
    In the interim, there will be minimal changes to operations.

    Do I have to be a SSAA NSW member if I am a casual shooter?

    No.

    What will happen to the clubs and individuals who currently use the site? Will they be relocated?

    All Clubs will continue to have access to the Complex, along with casual shooters.
    Clubs and individuals also have the option to train and compete at Sydney International Shooting Centre or another privately operated facility.

    Will the existing agreements the clubs have with the venue continue under the new operators?

    It is the OOS’s and SSAA NSW’s’ intention to respect these arrangements and transfer the agreements.

    Are there any changes to the calibre restrictions?

    During the transition period, a new range approval will be required.
    N.B. all activities must be within the range template and approval.

    Will clubs be able to host major events?

    It is SSAA NSW’s intention to host events in accordance with the Development Consent requirements and the Range Approval.

    Is the Hill Top Shooting Complex going to remain a cashless venue?

    This will be a decision for SSAA NSW. Initially, operations will be unchanged and cash will not be accepted.

    When will OOS cease managing the booking calendar?

    Office of Sport will manage existing bookings until 31 August 2025 with all existing 2025 calendar bookings provided to SSAA NSW.
    During the transition period, SSAA NSW will focus on a booking schedule that ensures safety and efficiency.
    It is the intension of SSAA NSW to fulfill as many existing club bookings as possible during the transition period.

    Can a booking still be made online?

    SSAA NSW, as part of the transition process, are looking to use their SSAA system, however the online booking process will be clarified during the transition period.

    Will clubs be able to use Expense Register for club bookings?

    This will be a decision for the new venue management.
    An operational model for clubs will be communicated by SSAA NSW.

    Will SSAA NSW accept new club bookings?

    SSAA NSW will consider club applications on their merits.

    Are there going to be any additional rules or restrictions?

    Any revisions will be consistent with NSW Firearms Registry requirements.
