NSW State Fly Shooting Titles Break Records in Batemans Bay

The recent NSW State Fly Shooting Titles held at SSAA NSW Batemans Bay Branch delivered some fantastic results, including two new records.

Shooting both Centrefire and Rimfire, 52 competition shooters shot an impressive 323 flies.

The Centrefire competition kicked off with an outstanding performance by Peter, who claimed the overall win and setting a new LG National Record for the 5-target aggregate with a score of 278.8.

Close behind was Vincent, who earned second place and set a new range record for the highest scoring target in LG with a 60.1 @ 0.997.

Anthony rounded out the top three.

Among juniors, Eli won the Over 15 division and finished a strong fourth in Heavy Gun, while Batemans Bay’s own super star, Lawson, secured the Juniors title. The rimfire competition featured a tight battle between Michael “Belly” and Dave, both scoring 281. Dave took home the gold with 8 flies compared to ‘Belly’s’ 6.

‘Belly ‘nevertheless claimed the overall 2-gun (Centrefire + Rimfire) title with a weekend score of 554.12, winning a Garmin generously provided by Teresa and Bruce from Mollymook Beach Hut. Dave finished third with a solid 279.6.

A standout story was the remarkable performance of young competition shooter Stella, who, despite limited attendance at shoots, scored an impressive 274.06.

Stella (pictured with her Grandfather, Bruce) won the Juniors category and finished 5th overall, just one point behind her mother, Cassandra, who also made the top 5 with minimal prior fly shooting experience.

One of the weekend’s most remarkable moments was Cheryl’s new range record for rimfire group size at 200 yards—a phenomenal 60.3 @ 0.737.
