Our Conservation Programs

Real outcomes through ethical, skilled and science-based wildlife management

At SSAA NSW, we believe in conservation through pest control – the responsible, humane and highly regulated use of firearms to help restore balance to Australia’s ecosystems.

Our programs combine the skills of accredited members with scientific wildlife management, ensuring every action supports environmental health, public safety and animal welfare.

We work in close collaboration with government departments, landholders and environmental organisations to deliver measurable results for conservation across New South Wales.

Our key programs

National Parks – Supplementary Pest Control (SPC) Program

SSAA NSW is proud to be the only trusted hunting organisation authorised to participate in the NSW Government’s Supplementary Pest Control (SPC) program.

This program forms part of an integrated pest management strategy within NSW national parks and reserves. It delivers tangible conservation outcomes by reducing pest populations that threaten native habitats and wildlife.

All volunteers must complete a rigorous assessment and accreditation process to ensure the highest standards of safety, skill, and environmental care.

Further information about new volunteer opportunities will be released soon.

Join us in conservation through shooting

Our members are proof that responsible, ethical shooters can play a vital role in environmental protection. Through structured, well-managed programs, SSAA NSW helps restore balance to the land while upholding the values of safety, respect, and integrity. If you have a conservation project or partnership idea, we would love to collaborate.
