Help us Better Understand your Experience with the NSW Firearms Registry

SSAA NSW is now calling on our membership to provide feedback regarding your experience with the NSW Firearms Registry as a law-abiding firearms owner.

Why we’re asking

As a result of the Government’s introduction of the Terrorism and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2025 (TOLA), NSW firearms laws are undergoing significant change, with new administrative requirements, shorter licence periods and additional steps introduced across many Registry processes. These changes have contributed to a number of ongoing concerns for SSAA NSW, including, but not limited to, processing delays within the NSW Firearms Registry through the Gun Safe Portal and the impact those delays are having on law-abiding firearms owners, including sports shooters, hunters, primary producers, collectors and firearms dealers.

What the survey covers

SSAA NSW has joined Shooters Union Australia to launch a statewide Trust & Confidence Survey to understand the experiences of law-abiding firearms owners in their interactions with the NSW Firearms Registry. This includes permits to acquire (PTAs), firearms licence applications and renewals, range approvals, general permits, the club onboarding process and other business-as-usual transactions.

Why your input matters

We’re asking members about their actual experience whether good, bad or mixed, because the value of this evidence lies in its honesty and its scale. To advocate on this issue with clear evidence, SSAA NSW is asking members to complete a short survey on their experience with NSW Firearms Registry processes.

How to take part

You are not required to provide personal details such as an email address, however a first name is required so each response can be validated.

Whatever your experience has been with the NSW Firearms Registry, we encourage you to complete the survey by clicking the link below.
